I recently strapped the ADE Advanced Optics Huracan red dot sight onto my pistol, and let me tell you, it’s been an interesting ride. This little sight boasts a budget-friendly price tag, but how does it perform in the real world? Here’s my breakdown after putting some rounds downrange.
Specs & Features:
- 3 MOA red dot: Pretty standard size, good for quick acquisition.
- Docter/Noblex footprint: Fits various mounting plates.
- Aluminum construction: Feels lightweight but sturdy.
- Adjustable brightness: Plenty of options for various lighting conditions.
- Waterproof & fogproof: Ready for whatever the weather throws your way.
- CR2032 battery: Easy to find replacements. (Battery life info not provided by the manufacturer)
Best Features:
- Price: Let’s be honest, the Huracan is a steal. It’s perfect for someone wanting to try out a red dot without breaking the bank.
- Ease of use: Zeroing was a breeze, and the brightness controls are intuitive.
- Durability: So far, it’s held up well at the range.
Advantages:
This sight is a fantastic option for casual shooters or those new to red dots. It’s lightweight and doesn’t mess with the balance of your pistol too much. The Docter footprint makes mounting a breeze if you already have a compatible plate.
Disadvantages:
- Limited info: There’s a distinct lack of information from the manufacturer, especially regarding battery life.
- No auto-shutoff: You’ll need to be mindful of manually turning it off to conserve battery.
- Dot clarity: Some users online mention the dot not being quite as crisp as pricier options. I can see some truth to that, but it’s definitely usable.
My Experience:
Overall, I’ve been happy with the Huracan. While it might not compete with high-end red dots, for plinking and target practice, it gets the job done. The dot is bright enough for most situations, and it’s held zero through my range sessions. However, if you’re looking for a red dot for serious competition or personal defense, you might want to consider investing in something with a bit more refinement and features like auto-shutoff.
Customer Comments:
Here’s what others are saying online:
- “Great value for the price! Easy to use and seems durable.”
- “The dot could be a little crisper, but overall I’m happy.”
- “Not sure about the battery life, wish there was more info from the manufacturer.”
- “Avoid this for serious use, get something with auto-shutoff.”
The Verdict:
The ADE Advanced Optics Huracan is a solid budget red dot sight. It’s easy to use, seems durable, and won’t break the bank. However, keep in mind its limitations like potentially shorter battery life and a less crisp dot. If you’re a casual shooter or someone wanting to dip their toes into the red dot world, the Huracan is a great option. Just be sure to manage your expectations and consider your needs before pulling the trigger.

This Sight did not fit on my PSA Dagger or my PSA 5.7 Rock . I had even ask if it would fit and they said it would. The sight is a couple millimeters to Long .. The quality seems good and I will probably try it on one of my other pistols .

I’m gonna call it “metallic chocolate”. It doesn’t match FDE, camo, black…it doesn’t even match FDE as an offset tone it just looks out of place wherever it goes

This is the second ADE Huracan RDS ive purchased. It is a good beginner RDS for those who havent trued them and not sure about forking oit several hundred dollars for one and find out you don’t like them. I purched this one for a training firearm so students can get a feel for it before buying. ADE makes a quality product.
