I was excited to try the Sig Sauer Air Red Dot Sight for my Sig M17 pellet pistol. It seemed like the perfect way to upgrade my accuracy and get a more realistic training experience. Here’s what I found after putting it through its paces.
Specs:
- 3 MOA red dot reticle
- 1x magnification
- Windage and elevation adjustments
- Multi-brightness red dot
- Designed for Sig Sauer M17/M18 ProForce and M17 Pellet Airguns
Best Features:
- Clear sight picture: The lens is crisp and offers a wide field of view. The red dot itself is clear and adjustable for brightness.
- Easy to use controls: The buttons for power and brightness are simple and intuitive.
- Sturdy build (mostly): The metal body feels solid, and the red dot held zero well after sighting in.
Advantages:
- Faster target acquisition: The red dot definitely helped me acquire targets quicker, especially at close range.
- More realistic training: Having a red dot sight on my pellet pistol felt more like using a real firearm (for training purposes only, of course).
Disadvantages:
- Flimsy mounting plate: This was the biggest disappointment. The plastic plate that attaches the sight to the pistol feels cheap and doesn’t inspire confidence. In some online reviews [customer reviews], users reported the plate coming loose after firing. Thankfully, mine held up, but it was a constant worry.
- Installation: While not the most complex process, mounting the sight required some fiddling and wasn’t as user-friendly as I’d hoped.
- Price: Considering the plastic mount and some quality control issues, the price feels a bit high.
My Experience:
The red dot sight did improve my accuracy, and using it was enjoyable. However, the flimsy mounting plate loomed large in my mind. I constantly worried about it giving way, which took away from the overall experience.
Online Chatter:
Customer reviews [customer reviews] echoed my concerns about the mounting plate. Some users reported issues with the sight itself failing after a few shots. However, there were also positive experiences, with people praising the clarity of the red dot and the improved accuracy.
Final Verdict:
The Sig Sauer Air Red Dot Sight has the potential to be a great product, but the cheap mounting plate is a major drawback. If Sig can address this issue, it could be a worthwhile upgrade for pellet pistol enthusiasts. For now, I’d recommend looking at other options unless you’re comfortable potentially modifying the mounting plate yourself.

When you mount this on the Airsoft version of Sigs gun, the adapter plate gets held on by the 3 rear steel sight screws. Up front, there are 2 very tiny ledges that are suposed to slide under the loaded chamber indicator to hold down the front of the adapter. IT DOES NOT. after a few shots, the adapter pulls away
and lifts up and then the sight is off and cannot be adjusted to compensate. The rear screws are as tight as I can get them , so this is useless on this gun. It does work on the pellet version of this gun, but that uses a different adapter plate. And also, you can’t get to the locking screws when its mounted either, the rear steel sight blocks the screws, another design flaw.

I wasn’t expecting it to equal my Romeo1Pro but the quality could be a little better. The locking screws are place as such that they are hidden behind the rear sights on the M17 Proforce which means you have to remove the slide and unscrew three screws in the “striker” area to remove the rear sites and thereby loosen the hold of the optic on the gun before you can unlock them, then re-zero it, then reverse all the while hoping you didn’t misalign it while doing so and immediately throw off your zero again. Would have liked to see them design it to delete the rear sights since you can’t co-witness them anyway and just include something else to retain the screws that allows you access to the locking set screws.

ドットの明るさを強くすると 滲みが出ます。
ただ サバゲーで使うには 自分的に 許容範囲じゃないかと思えるくらいでした。
ターゲットを狙う 精密射撃には 向かないと思います。

1st shot using red dot on my Sig Co2 M17 was low. I mentally adjusted and raised the red dot up to where I think is needed to be. My dead reckoning was great, bullseye!
Now I need to remove the sight per the manual to raise the dot up. Per the manual you have to remove the sight, then loosen the two screws at the back of the sight before moving sight up.
I called Sig and they said it can be many clicks (12?) to move it 2” higher. They took my email and will confirm back. Additionally, I lost the Allen wrench the sight can with so they will tell me what size wrench I will need to take out the top black screws.
The red dot is pretty visible in all light conditions.

It would not turn down far enough to sight it in.

My son put this on his Hi Capa and it works perfectly. He loves it and said this was his best birthday ever. Can’t beat that.

コレはライラクス製の様です。
