I recently took the plunge and added the ADE Advanced Optics RD3-006A red dot sight to my EDC pistol. As someone who’s always looking to improve my accuracy and speed on the range, I was intrigued by the budget-friendly price tag of this red dot. But how would it perform in the real world? Let’s break it down.
Specs and Features:
- Reticle: Choose between red or green dot (I went with green for better daytime visibility).
- Mount: Mounts to pistols with Doctor/Vortex Venom footprint.
- Durability: Aluminum housing feels solid, but some online reviews mention concerns about long-term durability.
- Battery Life: Boasts up to 10,000 hours on a single CR1632 battery (a plus!).
- Weight: Lightweight and compact, perfect for everyday carry.
Best Features and My Experience:
For the price, I was impressed with the overall quality. The green dot is crisp and clear, and brightness adjustments are easy to make with the two buttons on the side. Mounting the sight was a breeze, and zeroing it in took minimal time at the range. The included lens covers are a nice touch for protecting the optic during transport.
Advantages and What Users Say:
One of the biggest advantages of this sight is the affordability. It allows shooters to experience the red dot advantage without breaking the bank. Several online reviews echoed this sentiment, with many praising the sight as a great value for casual shooters or those on a budget. However, some users reported issues with the sight holding zero after heavy use.
Disadvantages and My Take:
While the RD3-006A is a great option for casual use, it might not be the most suitable choice for competition shooting or situations demanding top-tier durability. Like some users online, I found the power button location on the front of the sight to be a little awkward, but not a deal-breaker.
The Verdict:
Overall, the ADE Advanced Optics RD3-006A red dot sight is a solid option for budget-minded shooters looking to enhance their pistol accuracy. It’s easy to use, delivers a clear sight picture, and boasts a long battery life. However, if you’re a competitive shooter or require top-of-the-line durability, you might want to consider investing in a higher-end red dot.

Really decent optic for the price. Not a competition optic but works really well for a home defense gun or everyday carry. I have it on my G3C and fits and sights in pretty easy.

Pull it out of the box. Put it on the RMS cut and bolt it down- now that is the easy way. No messing around with the Glock slide sites which are nasty. Dial it in with a laser bullet and fine tune at the range. No conversion plates or fitting needed. Supposedly, this will hold up to the vibration and recoil. You can get it at Optics for less than Amazon, by almost 10 bucks. Enjoy.

It fits perfectly on my forearm. The green dot is nice and bright during the daytime, so you know it’s really bright.
