I’ve been putting the Aimpoint ACO Red Dot Reflex Sight (2 MOA) through its paces for the past few months, and let me tell you, this little red dot packs a punch. Aimpoint is known for its bombproof optics, and the ACO lives up to the reputation.
Specs at a Glance:
- Dot Size: 2 MOA
- Weight: 10 oz (with mount)
- Battery Life: Up to 50,000 hours
- Durability: Waterproof up to 15 feet, shockproof
- Mount: Included QR mount
Best Features:
- Legendary Aimpoint Ruggedness: This sight is built like a tank. I wouldn’t be surprised if it could survive a nuclear blast.
- Battery Life for Days: Aimpoint claims 50,000 hours on a single battery. I haven’t put that many rounds downrange yet, but let’s just say I’m not worried about it dying anytime soon.
- Simple Controls: There are just two knobs: one for brightness and one for on/off. Easy to use even with gloves on.
- Clear, Crisp Dot: The 2 MOA dot is perfect for quick target acquisition at close to medium range.
Advantages:
- Fast Target Acquisition: The red dot makes it super easy to pick up targets quickly, especially compared to iron sights. This is a huge advantage in close-quarters situations.
- Durability: As mentioned before, this thing is built to last. You can trust it to perform in any condition.
- Great Value: Compared to other high-end red dot sights, the ACO is a good value. You’re paying for Aimpoint’s proven quality and reliability.
Disadvantages:
- Weight: It’s a bit on the heavy side compared to some other micro red dots on the market. Not a deal-breaker for me, but something to consider.
- No Night Vision Compatibility: This sight isn’t night vision compatible, which is a limitation for some users.
- Simple Reticle: The 2 MOA dot is great for close to medium range, but it’s not ideal for long-range shooting.
My Experience:
I’ve been using the ACO on my AR-15 for target shooting and some tactical carbine drills. It’s been fantastic. The dot is clear and easy to see, even in bright sunlight. The controls are intuitive, and the sight has held zero perfectly.
What Others Are Saying:
Users online rave about the ACO’s durability and battery life. Some reviewers mention wishing the mount was a bit more robust, and a few would prefer a smaller, lighter option. Overall, the sentiment is overwhelmingly positive.
Final Verdict:
The Aimpoint ACO Red Dot Reflex Sight is a no-frills, but incredibly reliable red dot sight. It’s perfect for shooters who want a bombproof optic for close to medium range shooting. While it might not be the lightest option on the market, the trade-off for Aimpoint’s legendary build quality is well worth it in my book. If you’re looking for a red dot sight that you can depend on, the ACO is a great option.

Purchased this to mount on an AR build, and VERY happy with it. Sight is easy to work, easy to adjust, accurate at variable ranges. Worth the money!

I bought this because I didn’t want to spend the money on another T2. I am very pleased that I did. While it is bigger and heavier than my other Aimpoint, it was also much easier on the wallet. I would recommend this sight all day long.

I bought two of these because at the time the Aimpoint pros were sold out everywhere. Lets be straight forward, the ACO is an Aimpoint so its durable and still generally better than most other non-Aimpoints; in this regards are in a league of their own. Aimpoints are like Surefires, its hard to go wrong.
Having established that Aimpoints are fantastic, lets get into the weeds. I’m using the Comp M2 as a base line. The mount is just good enough to do the job, but it could be much better, the old Comp M2’s had better mounts. Its not NV capable, pros and the Comp series are, its not guaranteed to be submersible to the same depths as a Comp M2. The Comp M2 came out in the late 1990’s and its still better than an ACO in every way except the dot size.
Overall I’d say save you money for a PRO, for about $60 to $80 more you get a RDS that is superior in every way possible. If you can find one used and returned for less than $400, it might be a good buy. I own two ACO’s and while my review was critical, I still like them and will keep them, they’re still better than most other non-Aimpoints RDS’s. Basically its a good RDS and should serve you well.

I looked at many other more expensive optics for my AR. After reading many positive reviews as well as watching several videos, I decided to purchase the Aimpoint Carbine Optic. I am very glad that I did purchased this optic.
I recently added a 3x tripler to compliment this optic which now will allow me to take further shots at the range as well as when I am hunting.

Awesome optic. I’m not a big red dot guy but I’m pretty impressed. I have a Saiga AK with a Texas weapon systems top cover. After 5 rounds at 50yards I was in the bullseye. The dot itself is bright, it’s easy to use and sight in. The wind has been nuts in south east Utah lately so I didn’t fire too many rounds, but I’m confident in the optic and accuracy of my rifle

When it comes down to an optic there’s a variety of choices out there. I myself have ran a whole gamut of different types on my AK setups and armalight ones of various chambers. From anywhere to the historically famous Axiom Kobra Russian red dot system to the modular setups off my side rail with differing holographic brands..this means Trijicon MRO, Holosun 510c red and green, aimpoints ..now let me stop here for a second. Some people do not like tube style optics so really if you do not like a 30 mm tube setup with a crisp red dot then maybe Aimpoint isn’t for you but what aimpoint feel like it may lack when you first test one out you realize these things are cat diesel engine optics of the optics world. I have beaten the crud out of my ACO and PRO and they still hold zero this is off my side rail systems on my AK’s, these particular ones I don’t use magnifiers..I can’t really stress enough the quality these optics bring even if you choose the ACO over the patrol to save $45 you’re still getting amazing red dot. They work well..only thing I recommend as well is purchasing an ARD from aimpoint..if you don’t know what that is long story short it’s stops the reflection even in lower day light from immediately beaconing and reflecting your position to potential combatants…they work well. Remember prisms, lvpo’s and holographic sights will and shall give away your position very fast unless you set these up. Idk setiius, so if you’re going to be getting an aimpoint don’t forget to get the Anti reflective device for it to save your buttock.
Peace and stay safe blood.
