I’m giving this a 5 star, but it’s more like a 4.5 star review. Nowadays, it seems items with an average of 4 stars have numerous 1 and 2 star reviews averaging it down due to issues with the item. 4 stars definitely doesn’t cut it anymore, and in all fairness to the Crimson Trace cmr-204, it does deserve better than a 4 star.
First off, the specs on the item’s main page say the weight is 0.01 Pounds which comes to 0.16 oz. This is obviously not correct. The weight for this for anyone interested is exactly 2.7 oz (with the battery installed) . On a side note- I have researched literally hundreds of various light and laser combos on Amazon, and I have no clue why so many of the weights on these items are listed incorrectly. Who are the people that are just guessing and adding something on that line? It clearly isn’t the manufacturer of these products.
Anyway, on to the review. I have purchased quite a few laser light combos over the last few months and the Crimson Trace so far is at the top or near the top in what I have been looking for.
Accuracy- I have put about 300 plus rounds through it so far, and it has maintained zero (close to it), better than other items I have used. I have had to make small adjustments here or there, but it’s not like after 50 rounds, the laser has moved 3 feet right or left. It isn’t a perfect zero, but it does stay relatively close with minimal adjustments.
Brightness- I haven’t had the chance to take this one out in the desert sun just yet, but I have pointed it out in the daylight on sunny days, and it does appear to be brighter than most. It is far brighter in the sun than the olight baldr mini (which is a good unit itself, but the worst I have used in regards to visibility in the sun)
It is also brighter than the Streamlight 8ag and the Nightstick, but not as bright as the Armalaser (which has been the brightest I have seen on any green laser)
There are three main reasons this does not get a five:
1). The buttons and functions. The functions themselves are pretty cool but changing from say laser only, to laser light, etc. can only be done while the thing is on, and in specific order. It does save by last setting when turned on, which is cool. However, if my setting is say laser/light, and I want to only use the laser, I have to turn it on, hold both the left and right tabs down at the same , and wait three seconds for it to change to next mode. That’s almost 12 seconds to get to the mode I want if it is the last option of the 4.
There’s no real easy way to be discreet with these options unless you want to turn it on with the barrel aimed at the carpet, then make the necessary changes until you get your desired option.
It would be nice if the options could be set with the unit off (like the olight), or if maybe the left button was laser, the right was light, and you had to hold both together for 3 seconds to get the strobe effect.
Not the biggest deal breaker, and the accuracy and durability are more important in my opinion.
2). The battery should be rechargeable. Crimson Trace offers free batteries for life, but that means I still have to order them, wait for the battery to be shipped, etc. I haven’t read the fine print on the battery for life program, but I would guess there is probably a limit on amount of batteries they send you free each year. This battery give you over two hours of battery life, where if I could recharge this via usb chord or something, I could get it to run for maybe only 45 minutes or so, but I could then just recharge it again and get another 45 minutes.
3). The price. Yes this has been the most accurate and required the least amount of zeroing to get it dialed in, and yes it does appear durable in my limited time I have owned it. But it is far from perfect at at $350, it isn’t exactly cheap.
I am going to keep it and see how it holds up at 500 rounds, 1000 round, and beyond. I will update the review if I have any issues with it

Purchased one for a Glock 21 Gen 4 and another for a Glock 41 Gen 4. Both fit and function very well. I received one that had a gold plated spring and one did not. The non-gold plated one had an issue with the light and laser. Fortunately, I live ~5 miles from their factory. I brought both lasers to their lobby without an appointment. The person at the front desk was aware of the issue. She left the lobby for ~2 minutes and came back with a different battery cap and a new battery. She said that the initial production run went out with a standard spring. The next month they found that a gold spring fixed the issue. So within 5 minutes, they were both back online.

I mounted this on a Sig P229 and used the #4 insert. Perfect fit. While the laser stayed perfectly set center while shooting, the elevation was about 3” too low for center shots.
I out about 50rnds through and made sure it was not me anticipating recoil because the laser is a crutch for good sight alignment. 3 shots laser, 3 shots oem sights. Oem sights every single time dead center, laser 3” low. I maxed out the elevation setting and was afraid the screw was going to strip if I tried anymore. It is too bad, unlike my bad experience with the rifle system this held center alignment but would not adjust up. Oh well back to my streamlight setup.

The light is not super bright but sufficient to light up a room and the Green Laser is quite visible. For home defense quite adequate.
The laser is mounted 1-3/8″ below the bore and 5/8″ right of the bore. Therefore the laser has to be adjusted for both elevation and windage and will be zeroed only at that particular distance. I suggest 20 yard zero which is about as far as you can see a Green Laser in Daylight. Any shots inside of 20 yards can’t be off more than 1-38″ low and 5/8″ right. Beyond 20 your shots will start to hit high and left.
Hope That Helps

It was easy to install. Adjusting the laser took a little work, but nothing crazy! Very happy with purchase!

I’ve only owned this item for 30 days so it’s hard to comment on its durability. I’ve put around 650rds on it so far and I don’t have any complaints. It was easy to zero in, it’s held it’s zero the 3 times I’ve been to the range. Easy installation and I only paid $230 for mine. The priced went up to $350 two days after I purchased, yay me!!

Ok – so my device stopped working after a couple of months, but that sometimes happens with electronics. It’s about the support and what I’m writing a review on. The device was great until it just wouldn’t turn on. Not having registered for warranty or done any of that, and it’s been several months since the purchase, I was figuring I would be hosed. Not with Crimson Trace. They have an excellent warranty and after conversing with them and giving them the details/info they are sending a replacement. I would purchase again from them simply for the piece of mind, not that the product will or will not fail – and sometimes something does happen, but that if it does they’ll stand behind it. I was blown away by the service. No chasing for days and getting the run-around, but a submission to a replacement order number in a couple of hours. Wow!
