I love the wide field of view. Perfect for close-range shooting.

This is the red dot I’ve been looking for!
David (verified owner) –
Perfect for my AR-15 build. Highly recommend!

This site was easy to set up and zero in and is a great budget option. I have it mounted on a 9 mm brace and it holds zero perfect.

The good: Clear and usable red dot, adjustable for most indoor/outdoor brightness, day and night. A keeper despite how valued priced it is. You can bang this optic around a bit and not have to scrap it. Holds zero, at least I tested up to .308 semi-auto.
The bad: The brightness knob is difficult to actuate, no gyro-activation (shake awake)

Clear optics, solid mount, and great price.

if i was going to ‘war’ i would get a military grade optic like aimpoint or trijicon or eotech.
but, since i’m not going to war i don’t require that grade of optic.
now, just to be clear, that does not mean i want to use some ‘airsoft quality’ optic (that one can find so easily everywhere) that breaks the third time you use it.
so, I was looking for a ‘quality’ (relatively speaking) basic green dot from a recognized brand for a long gun.
like most people looking for such an item i have viewed many videos, ready many reviews and blogs, etc.
in all of my research the Sig MSR came up again and again as a good solid optic at what most say is an unbelievably low price. I found few true complaints about the functioning and durability of the optic so i bought it – and I am happy that i did.
solidly built; nice bright dot.
some mention the difficulty of opening and closing the covers. but, since i intend to run this optic with them on (since you can see through them) that is not an issue for me.
the only other concern some say is that it is difficult to turn the brightness dial. I find it usable and actually like it (though my guess is that it might loosen up a bit over time). The ‘trick’ to using it is to do one ‘click’ of the dial at a time – not several at a time.
initial reaction is that the reviews are correct – its a well built solid optic.
recommended.
i will update this review if anything changes.

It’s nice! It’s sturdy. It’s easy to install. It works great. Just don’t install it backwards. Lol! The dots are bright. Co-witness is easy because of the riser hight. I really like it. So far it’s my favorite sig product. Toss up between the Romeo 5 and this but on an AR I like this mucho better

Decent red dot for the money. I have 3 of them. All of them work great.

Mounted this on a PC carbine. Super nice green dot sight! Love the built in caps. I accidentally left it on in my safe for weeks and that didn’t even kill the battery.

Great clarity, great quality, great reliability and reputation. You can spend more for better, but if you spend less (or even more in some cases) you’re taking a gamble on getting a lemon.
This is the cheapest option that I will wholeheartedly recommend for a center-fire ‘serious use’ (such as duty or home defense) gun.

The rheostat knob is pretty stiff and hasn’t gotten any less stiff, there is an off position next to full brightness and another next to minimum brightness. Good red dot for the money but the Holosun HS403R is a lot better and has a much more crisp dot and a much easier to turn rheostat dial. The mount that comes with this is better than the one that comes on the Holosun. Both optics use the same Aimpoint micro t1/t2 mounting footprint. If you’re looking for a good budget red dot, this one is pretty good, but I would recommend spending a little more on the HS403R personally. The see through flip caps are nice but they’re VERY stiff to open and close, so I just leave em shut. They’re clear after all. It also uses kind of a weird battery (1632 I think) ant the advertised battery life is less than half that of the HS403R, which uses a 2032 battery. If you get the Holosun I would recommend the UTG t1 mount, it’s solid and affordable, has recoil lugs, and it looks nice. The one that comes with this romeo msr I did buy a utg mount to replace it, but chose to leave it how it is since this mount has recoil lugs (lug? I can’t remember) and I’ll save the utg mount for when I get another Holosun. If you’re really on a budget and want a good red dot I would recommend this one, but there are better ones out there for not a lot more. If you’re open to buttons instead of a rheostat, the romeo 3 or 5 or whichever one is just a little more than this would also be a good option, but the dot still isn’t as crisp as on the holosun. Hopefully my review helps someone who is on the fence, if you can justify the extra cost I would definitely go with the HS403R but this one is pretty good.

Hard to complain about a $100 optic that does exactly what it should and fits the purpose I intended perfectly (Roni MCK/19x set up).
As noted, this is a green dot sight.
The MSR is very well made and appears to be very durable. Others have complained about the flip up lens covers and while they are a bit difficult to close it seems to be a nuance in technique rather than a design flaw. They close fine if you apply downward/forward pressure on the lower portion of the cover.
The green dot is crisp and brightness settings are ample for a variety of conditions. More than 4 at low light seems to produce a bit of an emitter glare but that’s no big deal. 6-8 in daytime seems best for my eyes (slight astigmatism). Control knob is slightly stiff but loosened up after a few setting changes. Not an issue.
Sight mounted fine on the MCK rail and is an absolute co-witness with the Magpul MBUS.
Glass is clear and crisp – even through the lens covers being down. Again, no issue there.
Zero easily achieved and held after a session of over 100 rds.
I have other SIG optics and the MSR holds true to the design, ease of use and visual appeal of the others I own.
No complaints for a $100 optic on a range/home defense toy. Would highly recommend.

Bought 3 of these and the quality is excellent.

Easy to install on my rail. No issues at all.
