Ultra high quality light. Feels hefty and stable when mounted. Mounting mechanism is the best I’ve seen. Holds zero very well on an airsoft pistol, but I can’t comment as to a real firearm. Feels like it warrants the hefty price tag because of the performance and reliability you get.

I had been in the market for quite sometime casually looking around some 3rd party H&K parts websites to buy an attachable rail mounted tactical light for my .40 H&K P30 firearm. After comparing several models, I happened to come across the Streamlight 69250 TLR-2 G Tactical Light. In the interest of saving some money on shipping, etc., I checked to see if this model was available through Amazon and it (obviously) was. And I must say that I am extremely happy with my purchase.
This light is excellent for my needs in a potential home defense situation. With the various modes of operation, ease of attachment/detachment, and of course price point, the TLR-2 G is well worth the buy if you are looking for a rail mounted tactical light for your firearm.
I was very happy with how easy it was to install/attach the TLR-2 G to my firearm. One of the advantages to this model, is that it fits several different rail styles to include Glock-style, Picatinny, Beretta 90two, S&W 99 and S&W TSW. This gave me peace of mind that I wouldn’t have any issues attaching the TLR-2 G, or even worse, having to send it back because it didn’t support my rail system. The TLR-2 G has you covered. Even better, if you have other firearms that have a rail system you can be assured that your TLR-2 G will work on most/all of them. Be sure to double-check your firearm’s owners manual to see which rail system (if any) that you have before purchase. The extra cross check never hurts.
As far as the various modes of operation go, the TLR-2 has a silver toggle switch that allows for 3 modes of operation. 1) Laser and Light, 2) Laser only, and 3) Light only. There is a 4th mode of operation that allows you to strobe the light if necessary, but it is not controlled by this small switch (that I am aware of). The switch itself does not turn on the light, it just sets the mode of operation. The light is “turned on” by pushing one of the two paddles on the backside of the unit. Completely depressing the right paddle will allow the light to be on continuously and freeing your hand(s) to do other things. Pushing the left paddle will temporarily turn the unit on and remain on for as long as the paddle is depressed. Releasing the paddle will turn off the light.
In order to initiate the strobing mode of the unit you have to, in my own words, “double-tap” the left paddle and on the second “tap”, hold down the paddle. Consistently activating the strobing mode takes a bit of getting used to, but once you get the muscle memory, it works like a charm. This was probably the hardest thing for me to initially get used to, but is more my problem than a product flaw, in my opinion. If you prefer not to have strobing, the instruction manual dictates how to disable it. To re-enable strobing you follow the same steps as deactivation.
I was able to test how bright the 200 lumen light was in both the normal (continuous) and strobing modes in semi-dark and completely dark rooms and the light is blinding if you are unfortunate enough to be in direct line of sight. The swath of bright white light that the TLR-2 G provides ensures you can confidently identify your target with no mistaken intentions or identification. The strobing effect is extremely strong in my opinion and is a much valued asset and force multiplier in disorienting a would be intruder, especially in tight or closed quarters. Even to me, standing directly behind the light, the strength and effect of the strobe even surprised me.
I have yet to live-fire with the light attached, but I did dry-fire my firearm and I was still able to comfortably and securely handle my firearm even with the light attached. Based on the other reviews, I feel confident in (re)-sighting/adjusting my firearm and there will be no regression in my accuracy and handling.
I’ve provided a couple of pictures of the light attached to my firearm.

Very well made and tough piece of equipment. Laser washes out in strong daylight – Light is very powerful with a broad unfocused beam allowing peripheral object recognition. Selection of light / laser combinations very intuitive. Expensive but worth it.

Great laser. everything they said it was.
Update:
I have had this laser for a few months now and it works great. At night can see the laser for probably a miles or more. It the bright afternoon sun I can see it at 100 yards if it is painted on a darker surface. If you are outside in the woods obviously it wont show up very well on plants and leaves. The laser is very easy to use with either your right hand or left. The light is VERY bright and the strobe is actuated very easy with a double tap on either side of the lever. I can shine the light on the white ceiling of my bedroom and it will light up the whole room.
Very sturdy construction. There are plenty of Youtube videos that show how durable the construction is. I mounted my laser to my Springfield XDM 9mm. I can no longer fit the gun with laser attached in my holster but I can quickly take laser off when needed. I have realized that when I re-attached the laser it is no longer zeroed. I don’t think this any fault of the laser though. My “picatiny” rails on the pistol are molded as part of the poly frame. Mounting the laser in the exact same spot that I zeroed it in on my gun at is difficult.
Another positive aspect is when I take it to the range everyone want to see it. I feel like I have sold a bunch of these by “demoing” to strangers on the range. I should figure out how I can make some money doing it.

I have the 300 lumen on my duty light and this one absolutely blows it away. It lights up the whole room. I didn’t rate the battery life yet because I havent had it long enough, but slips right on my other glock and is BRIGHT!!

2020 update:
The TLR-2 HLG is still going strong, several thousand rounds and a few battery changes later. Would buy one again in a heartbeat!

Original review:
I was apprehensive at first, but I’m definitely glad I got the High Lumen, Green Laser version of the TLR-2 streamlight!
I did a ton of research on these lights, and if you need any help deciding which is right for you, head over to streamlight’s website – they have a product selector to help you choose what’s best. (…). This is what I used when choosing to go with this particular model.
PROS:
High Lumen lights up the room! But it’s not “too much” for a weapon mounted light.
Strobe function is OUTSTANDING!
The green laser is pure, has a smooth circular shape, and has much more definition at long distances compared to red lasers. (though, I do not have experience with the red laser version of these streamlights, YMMV)
Super simple to install. Comes with the Glock/Universal mounting ‘key’ installed, but changing it out is simple. Very good diagrams in the instruction manual.
CONS(?)
I put a ? because I really cannot pick out any negatives about this light… but in the interest of being fair…
Price is, of course, a little steep… but, you do get what you pay for. If you’re in the market for a weaponlight, you’ve probably braced yourself for the sticker shock. But, then again, this one has ALL of the bells and whistles… I would not hesitate to buy one of the cheaper streamlights either! Quality is rock solid!
I’ll put this under the cons, but the battery door can be….. tricky. It isnt’ by ANY means difficult or a major pain, just take your time and read the booklet!
All in all, I’d give this 10 stars if I could. This model certainly has a lot of extra features, and you may or may not want them, or depending on budget, it may not be for you. I will say that if you can, I’d save up and get this or just invoke the “buy once, cry once” rule! You won’t be disappointed.

Wtf? Did I just spend 550 bucks on a flashlight? It comes with shares in the company right?..
Ok, now that the shock has worn off, “Yes, Yes I did!” And it’s probably the best purchase I’ve ever made. You order a 800 lumens light and a 1000 shows up (thanks!) and for something this small, it “lights up the hood”. The green laser is 100% better in daylight than the red laser. Full daylight and acquisition is almost instant, at night, range is not even a conversation. Switches are laid out perfectly, off, momentary, on and strobe, laser/light/laser& light. I’m sure the paper targets will surrender before they even hear a click. If you’re serious about accuracy and need to know exactly what’s lurking, close your eyes and push the buy now button, the financial discomfort only lasts until the white van shows up. This is not a 5 star review, it’s a 10!
